The news echoes a comparable action taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they recruited an industry veteran from Blizzard to assist with the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
Below is the entire message from the president's announcement:
Hello Everyone—
I understand you all just wrapped up your meeting - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the positive developments. Last time I sent you all a note, I stated the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative designers we have had the opportunity to work with - and we’re eager for that collaboration to persist.”
Through your commitment and versatility, especially over the last year, you continue to prove that.
The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS playtest was enlightening. It validated the promise of a roguelike shooter but indicated we still had work to do. It highlighted the need for a sharper vision.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve progressed. You accepted the input to mind and revamped Project ETHOS with a refreshed vision - one that’s poised to deliver on its potential to our audience.
The belief in Project ETHOS strengthens every day. To boost the remarkable development you’ve made, I am thrilled to announce the new hire as the latest Lead of the team. After several months of discussions, he comes aboard us on the specified date.
Ben’s leadership and experience in the competitive gaming field is extensive, having dedicated the past decade and a half developing and managing some of the most popular franchises in gaming, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and most recently, the battle royale hit.
Please join me in welcoming him soon. We are all excited to continue seeing the progress of the game in the months to follow.
David
